I believe that psychotherapy should provide a safe and nurturing environment that: encourages the expression of emotion; increases self-awareness; rekindles hope and promotes healing.

In therapy, I work with clients toward: relieving their distress; finding solutions; focusing on their strengths and achieving their goals.

Ms. Mele received her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She is certifed by NASW as a Clinical Supervisor. Ms. Mele is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. She has extensive experience with victims of trauma and abuse.

Ms. Mele is an adjunct professor at Centenary College, in both the Social Work and Sociology Departments. Ms. Mele has taught: Field Seminars I & II; Practice Skills for the Human Services; and Intimate Partner Abuse.

Ms. Mele is recognized for her commitment to her community and volunteer efforts by: Volunteers for Morris County; The Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders; Jersey Battered Womens Services, Inc. and the NJ Department of Criminal Justice.

As a recipient of the Giraffe Project Commendation, she has been identified as "someone whose courageous actions illumine all our lives, making manifest the Truth, that people who believe in themselves and care for others can meet any challenge life presents." (To learn more about the Giraffe Project, see the link below). Ms. Mele is an Adjunct Professor in the Social Work and Sociology Departments of Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. She is a member of the Morris County Task Force on Domestic Violence - Family Services Subcommittee. She has facilitated a support group for divorce issues for the Women's Center at the County College of Morris. She worked as a consultant for JBWS to develop a program to reach out to educated and affluent victims of violence. Ms. Mele was the keynote speaker for JBWS 25th Anniversary Grand Tastings event in 2008. She participates in the Mental Health Services Project for Jersey Battered Women's Services, and the joint project of Domestic Abuse Services and Project Self-Sufficiency.
